#23 overview

Well I can't believe I am done. There is alot I have learned, some I have retained and others probably not. I am amazed of the variety and depth of things that can be done with the internet. If not for this program, I would have not even known these things exist. I thought the computer was really only to google an item and up pops websites, but there are so many technical things that can be done and it still is mind-boggling. I know I have only touched the surface but at least now I know these services, etc. are available if I ever have a need to use them.
#22 e-books

I heard of e-books from patrons and co-workers but never actually went into the catologue to use one. I downloaded the software and added a couple of books to my account to test it out. It is nice to experience this format and to know this is another way the library can offer books to patrons.
#21 Podcast

I tested many of the podcasts and found some interesting. Like anything on the internet there are some that are worthy to listen to and others not. I found Science on the Wild side educational. Many of them though I thought was slow moving and it was hard to keep my focus on the audio. I must be someone that likes to read or have video feed instead. This discovery process requires for me at least to be in a quiet room. I tried to add the RSS feed to my Bloglines account and it came up an error

#20 you too can YouTube

I have never tried YouTube. I heard about it and have seen patrons using it. I looked at the 70's commercials. It brought back memories. I also think alot of useless video is on this site and alot of trash, especially what young kids are trying to put on this site and get there 15 min. minutes of fame. Though, I do believe this can provide a research aspect , such if you were doing a report on commercials and wanted to view history of commercials etc.
#19,Web 2.0 awards list

I explored several of the sites. Alot of information and websites appear at your fingertips. I explored the Travel and Books category. Library Thing. I liked it because it gets data automatically for you from sites. It was very useful. I think it would be a quick way to search and catalog your books.
#18 web based applications

Well, I created an account in Zoho Writer. I tried out several of the features and I think I successfully published a fake calorie spreadsheet into my blog. I also tested out the template for certificates and some others. I do see this can be useful especially that you can access from different areas and its free.
