#23 overview

Well I can't believe I am done. There is alot I have learned, some I have retained and others probably not. I am amazed of the variety and depth of things that can be done with the internet. If not for this program, I would have not even known these things exist. I thought the computer was really only to google an item and up pops websites, but there are so many technical things that can be done and it still is mind-boggling. I know I have only touched the surface but at least now I know these services, etc. are available if I ever have a need to use them.
#22 e-books

I heard of e-books from patrons and co-workers but never actually went into the catologue to use one. I downloaded the software and added a couple of books to my account to test it out. It is nice to experience this format and to know this is another way the library can offer books to patrons.
#21 Podcast

I tested many of the podcasts and found some interesting. Like anything on the internet there are some that are worthy to listen to and others not. I found Science on the Wild side educational. Many of them though I thought was slow moving and it was hard to keep my focus on the audio. I must be someone that likes to read or have video feed instead. This discovery process requires for me at least to be in a quiet room. I tried to add the RSS feed to my Bloglines account and it came up an error

#20 you too can YouTube

I have never tried YouTube. I heard about it and have seen patrons using it. I looked at the 70's commercials. It brought back memories. I also think alot of useless video is on this site and alot of trash, especially what young kids are trying to put on this site and get there 15 min. minutes of fame. Though, I do believe this can provide a research aspect , such if you were doing a report on commercials and wanted to view history of commercials etc.
#19,Web 2.0 awards list

I explored several of the sites. Alot of information and websites appear at your fingertips. I explored the Travel and Books category. Library Thing. I liked it because it gets data automatically for you from sites. It was very useful. I think it would be a quick way to search and catalog your books.
#18 web based applications

Well, I created an account in Zoho Writer. I tried out several of the features and I think I successfully published a fake calorie spreadsheet into my blog. I also tested out the template for certificates and some others. I do see this can be useful especially that you can access from different areas and its free.

#17 pb wiki

Well, I think I did what was requested. I also looked around in the sandbox. I posted a few comments in the favorite vacation spots. It was really easy.
#16 All about Wiki's

Well that was really interesting. I see some applications of this can work for the library and communicating with the community it serves. I personally see it working when you have a group working collaboratively for a single project, or to keep communications internally flowing. I personally would prefer in many instances though another way. I do not like disorganization and the unreliability of the information that the wiki may contain. But I'm up for a try , but something small for example, if we make one dealing with our department only for starters for example e-mail announcements etc.

#15 library 2.0 and web 2.o
This section took alot of reading. It was very interesting though. I agree that libraries need to cooperate, and collaborate on integrating collections and services to survive. In the release lightweight services section I was unaware of all the services that make it easy to sydicate data, services and systems to be remixed- It looks like OCLC is very much looking into new various ways to keep libraries vital. In the- to a temporary place in time, the evolution of the library was very informative and interesting. It boggles my mind of how fast the technology affects the library and society itself. I can't even phanthom the changes we and the community in which we serve will have to adapt to in the future. It is scary in a way but you always have to look forward if libraries as a whole want to play a vital role in the future.
#14 was very interesting. I liked the statement in the beginning of Technorati, that patrons really don't know what to search for on the internet. I see this has a good way to search for topics they are interested in. This was also a nice way to find out about the blogs themselves.
I read about tagging, #13. As it said, many of the best parts of del.icio.us don't require an account, I did not make one. Quite frankly, I can't keep straight all the other accounts I have set up for the prior steps. I read all the data and scoped out some of the tags. Believe me, I am not being negative just honest. I am really learning and have never had a need to do all these things, but it is good to know about them if I ever have one. I'm just a really private person. I do see a need for someone or some incidents that would require to have tags. It is a great tool to connect your home computer with your work computer. I also see it for a great resource for sharing information especially for those who enjoy doing that, or is helpful in their line of work.
Well I have successfully have created a Rollyo account, step #12. It is great that everything comes up so fast. This really seems to save time. I never dreamed you could streamline so much.

#11-Library Thing

I have set up an account in Library Thing. I am a mystery enthusiast so I have posted 5 mystery books into my account successfully.
Well I've completed step #10. I viewed image generators. It seems I have been successful in posting this. This was fun. Onward and Upward.
Well, I was successful in setting up a Bloglines account. I really liked how everything you are interested in, comes to your fingertips by just clicking on a few categories. I can see this as a quick and easy way to do research and keeping up on hobbies etc.

Commenting on 7 1/2 habits

I viewed the 7 1/2 habits. I believe that to be a lifelong learner you do need to be open to new experiences and keep a positive attitude. I liked how it pointed out that writing out a contract helps you keep a goal in mind. The contract to me also assists you on your journey to achieve a positive outcome . But, as a final comment and constructive point of view, the format that 7 1/2 habits was given was a little slow and could have been more upbeat to hold your attention.

My husband and I were going on a Sunday drive and we found this park. If you like hiking, then you will enjoy trying these various trails. There are several paths to choose from and are for all ages. The trails are marked with different levels of difficulty, so you can pick which trail you feel is most compatible with your level of experience. The trails are mostly in the shade. There is a river, falls, rock formations, and even caves. Some of the trails have stairs, so they are not accessible to everyone. I think this park is a combination of Mill Creek Park and Nelsons Ledges. We really enjoyed our day. The park is off Rt. 8 exit Cuyahoga Falls. You can see Schwebels Bakery on the right. Off the exit make a left, and then make another left after the one way street. Go down a block or two then make another left, and then a right. If you didn't pack a picnic there is also nice restaurants in the area. I think this would have been a nice entry to use the idea in Flicker of pasting these photos on a map. But when I was in Flicker that page would not load at the time, so I just did it using my own idea.

Country Western Gal

I've heard of blogging but wasn't quite sure what it entailed. Well, now I'm taking the plunge. I don't shy away from too many things so I look forward to this new experience.
